Default h23a-->h22 JDM swap questions for 93' lude

I did alot of reading last night about the h23...I was kind of disappointed, so I'm thinkin about swapping to a h22 JDM. So...is it worth swapping from h23 to h22 JDM? I noticed I could spend about $3000 in parts and not really gain much horsepower, so would $2199 for a complete h22 JDM change over from hmotorsports.com be worth it? I also figured I could order that with a manual tranny and go ahead and do the swap from auto to manual! Also if this is worth the $2200 to do, can anyone give me some good information on doing the swap? If I'll need anything more then what hmotorsports.com gives you, stuff like that. And if any of you h23 guys have done this swap please e-mail me at MustangFan67@aol.com

Good planning. Yes, it is a good idea to get an H22 if you want to refresh your car (by refresh, I mean you can change many parts before it goes into the car so that you don't have to perform any major maintanence on it for years to come), if you want to gain ~40whp over your stock H23, and if you want to do a 5spd swap. However, if your Prelude is not modified, I would just sell it and buy a 5spd Prelude.

Also, the figure of $2200 is not very accurate. You will have to change some parts before it goes in (ideally you want to change all the seals, water pump, timing belt, and clutch). However, you will be able to recoupe some of your money back by selling off your H23 parts. It's really hard to tell how much it will actually cost you. Expect $2700, but it could be less depending how much you can sell off your H23 parts.

Is it worth it?? NO QUESTON!! The car is a lot more fun to drive and it feels more reliable now that I changed the oil pump, timing belt, water pump, clutch, axles, and seals at the time of the swap. I gained 40whp and the car is A LOT more fun to drive on the track. It is definitely faster too. It is a VERY noticeable difference too. I raced my friend's car on the highway in 3rd and 4th with both motors. He would pull away from me some in 3rd, and then blow me away in 4th. Now I am DEAD even with him.

Good luck!
