Default I think its time for some flow bench testing...

One of the things I wanted to do this summer was spend some time on a flow bench with my H22 head and all the intake manifold and ITB options out there. i thought it would be a cool way to see what does and doesnt flow well.

I have a set of TWM 50mm ITB's and a JG sheet metal IM spec'd for a 2.2 to use for the testing. The things I dont have would be the following:

DIY ITB's (doesnt matter what configuration)
Skunk2 IM
Stock H22 IM

When the time comes, Id like to have others participate in the testing by allowing me to borrow either your DIY ITB's, Skunk2 IM or stock H22 IM for the testing.

Your item/s will be returned to you following the testing.

Wed also need to all come to an agreement as to which TB to use, what size. If its decided to use a 70mm TB (which would yield slightly better results) wed have to attain intake manifolds that have already been port mathed to run the larger TB. That is going to limit the available intake manifolds out there, Id say 1 out of every 15 has been port matched to the bore size of a larger TB.

So thats something that would nee to get discussed and decided upon.

Id like to have this done before the end of the summer.

So give me some input, any recomendations, ideas, thoughts on TB sizing???

Im also open to testing modified stock IM's so if anyone would like to see a DPR or Blacktrax reworked stock IM tested I can do that as well. If thats something youd like to see, you can add that to the list of **** I dont have and will need to borrow for the testing.

I may need a TB too if you guys want to see anything other than a stock TB used. Im paying for all the flow bench time for the testing, so Id greatly appreciate some help with lender IM's and possibly a TB.

Im tired of seeing all this stuff done over and over again for B series ****, time to get the H some luv

rick, John and I can probably work out getting you both of the stock h22 im and the skunk2

hes got the skunk on his car now and the stock one sitting in the garage, the stock one is going to JG in a little while but i see no reason it couldnt be used for this...hes also got a 68mm str TB that could probably be used....

sweet, thank you guys both...

Add my JG sheet metal IM and TWM 50's to the list and already its looking fairly interesting.

Id like to get a hold of a stock euro R IM and possibly a blacktrax modified stock IM to test as well

I have a Euro R, if my motor is still down by the time this test rolls around..

I would suggest using an ITR TB as for as an OEM unit to use, and the 70mm one..

Thats a lot of testing though, to do each IM 3 times with, once with each TB... That gets kinda time consuming and pricey. I think the 68mm TB will be a good choice, not too big and not stock.

Hopefully the timing works out, Id really like to get a euro r tested with the rest...

i have a slightly pnp stock itm. it just had a little clean up done at the bottom of the runners and right where the tb goes on.

if you were doing this soon, i also have a golden eagle turbo itm, and skunk2 tb 70mm that is going on my new setup.

rick, i was just thinking, what about trying different sized throttle bodies on the one that flows best......that way the better size would be easier to pinpoint, and that would reduce testing time.....

i guess you could run them all with the 70mm, and then go down from there to 68mm and then the stock, just to see the flow differences....

the only problem is that neither of john's two manifolds are port matched at the throttle...

68 is fine, its not really going to make a whole lot of difference, expecially with a TB flange set up for a stock bore TB.

Yeah, I don't mind letting you use them Rick. Just PM me and let me know when.
