What are good aftermarket struts for stock suspension Type SH?
My 98 Prelude Type SH needs new struts because the old stock ones are wearing out, my suspension is stock. I wanted to buy some good aftermarket struts. I don't care about how stiff or rough the ride is, all I want is it to handle a bit better and last at least 50,000 miles.
My questions are:
1) What struts would you guys recommend?
2) How/could would aftermarket struts work with stock suspension components?
3) Are adjustable shocks worth it? any other reason they are better than non adjustable struts?
4) cheapest site to purchase the struts you recommend?
I did search for a while but didn't find the information I was looking for. Any help and info you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated. TIA

1) I've done a lot of research on this and most everyone will recommend Koni Yellows or KYB AGX....some will also recommend Tokicos.
2) They work fine, although I recommend upgrading the springs as well.
3) Adjustable shocks are adjustable....If you want to be able to adjust the dampening effect, then they are worth it.
4) Coximport.com has good deals, but you can't beat eBay.

New struts with oem springs will work perfectly fine. I would recommend KYB AGX shocks over Tokico mainly because I dealt with KYB's customer service and they were VERY professional and they sent me replacement adjustment dials for free.
I think since you are going to go through all the work to replace the suspension, you might as well get a nice set of shocks. I think adjustable shocks are a good choice because that way you can set them at the softest setting for daily driving, but can stiffen them up if you decide to track/autoX your car. Also, with adjustable shocks, you can tailor them so that they don't become a mod that makes you displeased with your Prelude. Trust me, I know of MANY people who lost interest in their car because the mods they put on their car made driving it too uncomfortable.
Hope this helps.

Thanks andy, I don't think KYB makes struts for a Type SH prelude or do they? If they do I can get some for cheap around $300 for adjustables.
I've heard alot of good things about Koni Yellows, however they're a bit expensive. Everyone says that AGX's are the best bang for the buck. I would say to go with a full suspension just incase later you decide to drop you car like it's hot. It will be much less of a hassle later.

Are you sure Kron, i just did the search and I found this in the item details.
KYB AGX Adjustable Shocks/Struts will fit Honda Prelude from 1992 to 2001 All "Except 1997-2001 Type SH" front and rear never been used.

NOONE makes shocks specifically for the SH model.
You use base model shocks, along with base model springs (either stock or aftermarket).
Aftermarket shocks + SH springs will jack your ride height up an inch higher than you want it in the front. Koni's w/ the adjustable perch can alleviate it some, but it just makes more sense to use aftermarket springs.

like he said, I've never heard of after market shocks for the SH
the springs are wound tighter on the sh and do not fit well on the base shocks.
You have to use base springs and base shocks together, whatever kind you decide on.
I had Tein HAs for a base on my SH. The HAs are discontinued for Preludes but I've always heard good things about the SS ones. Tein is a bit pricey but the car handled great with them.
