Default How to make a custom intake

Well, I am in need of another intake. The one I got on right now, I don't even know what it is. I plan on getting a mushroom filter from jdmsh!t but I want to get a custom piping. Any place that sells just the piping or could I just go somewhere and make the piping myself? Which one would be cheaper? Well, thanks in advance for any help.

Well, the piping I have on right now isn't that bad. It just gets pretty hot. Is there some kind of paint or substance that will cool the piping down a little. It's aluminum piping with who knows what filter, need a new one pretty bad (filter that is).

Who needs an intake. Just put the filter on the throttle body

now you got me intrigued is there a good reason whyt the pipe is necessary to begin with? what is the real function of the pipe? what would be a reason why putting the filter in without the pipe is a bad idea? the only one i can think of would be the air temp is lower at the front of the car.

Doesn't the length of the pipe also move the torque range a little? I dunno. I'd just buy some mandrel bent piping from jcwhitney and weld it up. Couldn't be too hard.

I wrapped mine up with insulation. I forget where I got this because it's a hold over from my old car, but it's made specifically for this purpose. It's got a layer of normal household insulation and on the outside is a thin, shiny metallic layer.

Mushroom style filters suck. Rounded cone shapes make more power. The Apexi filter makes the most and filters the best.
