Ok...
So im trying to put in the new axle, and i notice this metal ring. it looks like a metal bracelet in a spring like form. I was trying to pop in the axle, and it seemed like this 'ring' appeared out of nowhere on the tranny side.

dont ask how, but i lost it. luckily i snapped some pics. take a look, and someone tell me WHAT THE HELL IS IT? and do i NEED to have it?

its for teh seal you used... it squeezes the rubber part of the seal around the axle.... aftermarket seal?

 

i lost that seal piece.


so, do i NEED that piece? or will my car be ok without it?

 

ok, so i'll just get a new seal piece.

It goes on the inside of the inner axle seal to keep the transmission fluid in the transmission. It is basically a spring to keep tension on the seal on the axle.

 

it was part of your tranny seal. dont bother trying to put it back together. just get a whole new seal.
