What do you guys think, would it do its job or should I invest more money in a better set.

i wouldnt buy it, my friend have a strut bar like that on his civic, and by the look/feel of it, it seems so flimsy, my guess is that its hollowed out aluminum bar, i could probably bend it in half with my bare hands...its true you get what you pay for
what i did is i bought the factory gsr front upper strut bar from the dealer for 40 bucks and use that for my gs, probably better quality than ebay ones...im also saving for comptech rear sway/tie bar kit...
like THALADOR said, if you want it just for show, go for it since its cheap, but if you want it for functionality/quality, id get something else

my take on it is that the strut bar isnt gonna do anythign anyway. i may be wrong, but i feel that regardless of how nice/expensive/jdm your strut bar is... its never really gonna make a difference... so buy it for the look... and buy it cheap.

Is that why ITR's/GSR's/Sti's/Lancer's come with them stock? Do you really think automotive engineers would put a strut bar/chassis reinforcement bars just for the looks?
Yes, strut bars do make a difference. The Ebay one's may not be as high quality as other high end brands, but they'll serve their purpose.
It's like what I always tell these kids, what kind of driving to you plan to do? If youre a track fiend or always in the canyons, then you might want to get bars with welded/one piece ends. This will give you better stiffness and structual integrity.
However, if you're like most of us on the road, you just want to stiffen up your chassis a bit for some quick on ramp turns. In which case, these ebay bars will suffice. It's really really stupid to invest tons of money on super high quality, top name brand strut bars when all you plan to do is drive on the street. Invest your money on other things, like engine work.

buy them. use the ends to be able to use heavy bar stock braces. its way cheaper to use the ends off of those than to fab new mounts. plus you can use the existing bars as patterns for the proper bends and lengths. be sure to weld the ends together. i would probably want to gusset the ends as well.

so you ended up agreeing with me. that the ebay bars will suffice. i said they wont do much if anything, but they look cool. you said they wont do much if anything but they are cheap and they cant hurt. its my fault for not reaching that conclusion through your logic, and since ive never seen an sti or lancer or itr theres no way i could have known they came with strut braces.

Actually, Im not agreeing with you. I said they will make a difference, they will stiffen your chassis, and will suffice for daily driving.
You say they wont do much except look cool.
How are our opinions the same?
Im not trying to start an E-fight or anything, I just to clarify my position.

OK thanx for your answers guys, Kendall said it the best
. I am probably going to get them cuz they are cheap and I will only use my car on the road. I can see its pointless paying $150 + for lets say Skunk2's when they all do the same thing.

i got pretty much the same thing off ebay. all four of them. perfect fit. solid bars. no problems. i would say for the money go for it.

Yep...you're wrong.
Yep...you're wrong.
I live in Tennesse, and there are many roads that curve in and out of the mountains and valleys of east Tennessee. I decided I would get a set off of ebay to try them out. Like what was said before, cheap strut/tie bars are better than no strut/tie bars. I definately could tell a difference, not a great one, but a difference. I think they are worth it. BEWARE the rear lower control arm bolts, THEY WILL SNAP!!! It happened on my EK2, and my DC4.
I have those exact 4 bars. I have yet to install the 2 lower bars, but so far the front and rear uppers have made a drastic difference, imho. There's not a whole lot of technology behind a metal bar, so it is hard to say that the dreaded 'ebay' strut bars will underperform... let alone break or bend.
Check out the PasswordJDM bars--- $429 for 3 of them....heh.

Strut bars like some other mods, by themselves wont do much. They should be a bigger impact if your car is lowered and have sway bars, tie bars, and front strut bar.
its just a metal bar man, get em.
i mean, i got a booteg strut bar and once i installed them, i felt a big difference. they were kinda light and i think they were hollow, but i they dont bend real easily. (remember, a hollow metal tube is strong then a solid one). i really cant explain it but you can look it up.
if you look at the dc's, they have holes in them. does that make it weaker?
nope.
by the way, the dc's look WAY better.
especially the lower tie bar.
