Default Opinions Welcome - My soon to be new setup

Hi all.

I've been doing a lot of forum searching lately, and after all the parts I have purchased I'm only concerned about one of them. Here is what I purchased:

DC Sports Header (ceramic mild steel)
Apexi N1 Catback Exhaust
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
Hondata manifold gasket
AEM V2 Air Intake
AEM Fuel Filter

The part I'm concerned about is the DC header. I've seen so many conflicting opinions about it, and I want to make sure I'm not bottlenecking my performance. I think I'd eventually go with the $900 Mugen header, but for now is there any reason why I shouldn't install the DC (for now)?

One last question, should I get a new/different catalytic converter? First of all why is the genuine Honda cat $650? And I am unable to find a high-flow cat for the 5th gen Prelude. Any suggestions?

Thanks much,
venger

Do some more research about Skunk2 IM. I heard people bitch about it (check engine light). Accord Euro R with modifications will be better option. Stock cat is fine, but you could consider hi flow cat. IMO AEM fuel filter is waste of money there. Just run the regular fuel filter. Apexi N1 sounds raspy. Hondata intake gasket DC sports header is ok but not as good as other header. If you have money, invest in better header.

How does the Greddy Evo2 exhaust compare to the Apexi N1?

DC Sports Header -sucks
Apexi N1 Catback Exhaust - soudns like crap
Skunk2 Intake Manifold - always hear problems about it
AEM Fuel Filter - waste of your hard earned money.

I recommending looking into higher end parts and buying them. It may take a little longer to save up but it will be well worth it. There was recently a header competion with all the top headers and RMF came out on top. They are about 700 bucks but worth the money!

yea, the aem fuel filter is a waste
the dc sports header is ok, but definetly not the best
I wouldnt worry about your cat unless its bad, like its failing emissions or it smells like rotten eggs. If you do want a more free flow exhaust you can always get a high flow cat...way cheaper than honda

i dont see why everyone says the N1 sounds raspy.....before my header and high flow, my N1 sounded awesome. Nice and deep.

Any idea by how much this header beat out a lower end peice, like a DC or some cheap knockoff?

First of all thanks for all the info. About headers, RMF or SMSP??

And wouldn't simply supercharging my 99 SH be a better, easier/safer (1 part), guaranteed way to achieve more hp? I was thinking about the Jackson Racing model. I also like the idea of supercharging because of the poor low end power of the prelude.

Glad to hear anyone's ideas.

i fixed my exhaust leak that was on my header. Sounds quieter now when im driving normal. Once i open it up...its pretty loud. But still not what i would call "raspy"

First off of that Skunk2 IM is a absolute waste of your money. You will see little to NO gains with it, maybe even a loss with your engine. Your engine is stock and not even built so the IM is absolutely useless. As far as the header, I personally believe it's a waste of money spending 900+ dollars or so on a header. Get yourself the Greddy header and do the 2 1/2 inch mod. I've heard wonders about that.
