goods and cons of the 01 f4i ??
They're reliable. Properly maintained, they'll last almost forever.
CCTs go bad pretty quick. So does the R/R. You can replace both of those with OEM stuff, which will eventually crap out again. Or, aftermarket stuff, which will last longer (in the case of the CCT, practically forever).

CCT = Cam Chain Tensioner
When the CCT starts to go, you will hear a rattling noise coming from the engine. I noticed it most when I was decelerating after pulling in the clutch. An aftermarket one from Ape is great. They're manual CCTs (MCCT), so they will need adjusting every so often (I hear one year from some people, 6 months from others). But, you'll only need to buy one (or two for those of us with a vtwin).
R/R = Regulator/Rectifier
Not really sure what it does precisely, but it's part of the charging system. When this goes, your battery will be unable to recharge. ElectrexUSA (I think they're ElectroSport now or some name) sells good aftermarket units. It's also possible to retrofit an R/R from a different motorcycle, a la GSXR600/750/1000.

I replaced my CCT with one of the APE pieces about a year ago. As long as its
adjusted right, you wont have to mess with it for a lonnnnnnng time.
Also, Honda redesigned the CCT around 2002/2003. For the price though, might
as well just go with the manual one. Hondas are not the only bikes with CCT
problems btw, some year GSXrs and others have cct problems also.

I have an F4i and love it. Very smooth bike, linear powerband, comfortable riding position minus the seat material, and extremely reliable. I had the CCT replaced under warranty (@ 3500 miles) with a blue dot auto part, but next time will replace with a manual APE one.
