97 accord lx crank oil seal question
How far does the crank oil seal go into the block? Flush with the block? It would be good if somebody have a picture of the seal on the crank for me.
yeah I made a rookie mistake of not taking note of how far the seal go into the block.
And another question.
It took me 5 times of driving the seal into the block to get it right. The first 4 times, the seal didn't go in straight thus one side was out and one side was in.
My question is, after 4 failed attempts, is the oil seal damaged? Visually, I can't see any scratches or breaks on the seal.

mmmm i would play it safe and get a new seal .. a lot of work if it starts leaking on you........and install seal a bit past flush , grease the inside of the seal and put a slight film of honda- bond on outer edge ...
is the outter lip of the seal important (part that is facing out)?
When I failed to drive it in squarly, I had to pry it back out which cause the outter lip to dent in a little but no rip or tears.
