Default center console how to delete a section and install Boost controller

Well I searched quite a bit and maybe I used the wrong keywords, but I am trying to delete my ash tray and cigarette lighter section and put some plastic or fiber glass or carbon fiber over it to then put in my boost controller. do you guys know any good sites that can show me where to buy the materials to do this.

If you have any pics of your setups that would be awesome too. Any general tips appreciated as well

pull out the ash tray and there is two screws in the back and that should pull out both then cut out carbon fiber that will fix the missing area

There was a guy in the classifieds that was selling carbon filber pieces.

When I was trying to install my own cd player, I scewed up the little cubby hole under the deck. I went to a place that does custom stereo installs, and asked if they had any scrap ABS plastic.

Well... If you didn't I'd say just do it all in Fiberglass and then sand it roughly to shape. Then cut the holes you need with a dremel (take all fiberglass precautions like gloves, long sleeves, and a mask)

Then just finish it up with some bondo. A lil glazing putty and paint... ur good to go.

Cheap and easy way.

Measure it and buy some plexiglass (its easy to work with) cut a piece out to put the controller in it. Then just buy some carbon fiber sticker sheet or tape, put that on the plexiglass so its not clear, then remount the controller.

Done cheap and easy. No one will know what its made out of.

ahh, need help with int fabrication... thats what I use to do before getting involved in the engine crap

decide if you want to cut the original dash or keep it so you can bring back to stock. then when you figure out a hole to put the controller, make the shape of your faceplate by using cardboard and a razor. trim the cardbord piece until it fits perfect. then use that to get the shape for fiberglass or carbon fiber piece.

PM me if you want more details

I want to work on it today...that was my plan. I wanted to use ABS plastic or something easily moldable with a little heat. the Fiberglass route just seems like a hassle, but I may be ignorant. Where can I get ABS plastic that you were speeaking of FRY's doesn't have it and neither does Radios shack (in a big enough piece). Remember I'm taking out the ashtray and cigarette lighter.

are you trying to make a curved piece or flat piece? flat you can jump on today... curved will take some time fiberglass or not. or else it will look like ****...

the cardboard trick I was talking about is good for flat panel. but honestly the plexiglass isnt a bad idea because its easy to shape with a heat gun... paint the back side of the glass for a clean gloss look... or just wrap it with vinyl

I have some stuff I used for fabbing up lil things in a class @ school... from what my professor told me... it is an expanded PVC board. It can be molded in boiling water.. so I assume it can be molded with a heat gun. PM me if you wanna meet up some time I got a big *** sheet I "borrowed" from the lab because I was going to delete my entire center section except 2 guages and put everything else in my glove box. Needless to say I got lazy and never followed though

oh you want an answer to your questions? lol, try a hobby shop, like a place that sells model trains en ****... or even home depot should have black plastic where the small plexiglass sheets are... might only have as thick as 1/8" or so...

post pics when your done
