Different Air Filter Designs
Hey guys I have been wondering about this for awhile. Does anyone have any input on the differences between these 2 filter designs. I am looking for info, not "its just a filter omg0z0rz".
Is there any benefit to one design over the other?
Does one filter better?
Does one flow more air?
Does one create more turbulence?
Any info/input/personal experience is appreciated. Thanks!

I like my open ended design. Obviously more airflow.
In the end though, I don't know that it will make toooo much difference unless your car is fully built.

There was a big filter comparison way back when, and from what I remember, the open neded design (the Apex'i filter) did the best for air flow.

I read somewhere that foam type flows the best, but doesn't filter as nice. OEM filters the best, but has the least air flow. Then you have K&N type of filter that falls in between.
Or something like that.

Im getting memory fab. Im not sure of the quality of the filter but i dont know of anywhere that sells filters so large for the J's style. Do u have a pic or link to the apexi one? Do you think i should replace the one that comes with a memfab? Im hoping there filters are good.

Oh, sry i didnt pay attention at the watermark. There filters are not the best but will do. Just use the one that comes with it for now youll be good.

Yea there was a comparison between a bunch of filters including k&n and the apexi flowed the best although didn't last the longest, I will try and find the thread/link.

Amsoil Foam filter. Best Flow, best filtering, only downside is cost. Keeps the engine the cleanest, flows the most air best, but its like 35$ for a piece of foam and some wierd *** oil.

as far as air filter designs go, i tried the open ended vs. the closed ended on my turbo sol and the open ended gave much better throttle response. also, make sure the filter can be cleaned (using filter cleaning solution) and be sure to oil it after cleaning. a good filter like a K&N will last a long time if properly maintained. The $18 metal "mesh" filters are probably best to stay away from.
