I have one of those ebay filters which looks like a K&N filter which sounds awesome but actually is sapping power, more noticable when weather is warm or sat at lights.

I am about to put my standard airbox on and get a pipercross panel filter, but people say about removing resonator/de-restricting the standard air box???

What does this mean? How do I do it?? There is a box that is still there now which runs under the front wing and back into the engine, which standard box fits on, can this thing be removed? There is a funny piece of plastic that is on top of the rubber pipe that goes into the throttle body which appears to be hollow and can be unscrewed? what is this?

Want to sort this out before I get my nice new stainless and de-cat system from BlueFlame fitted next week.

 

Do you *just* have an ebay filter in there, or am I right in assuming you actually have a short ram or CAI on there? If you do I would imagine that you don't still have your resonator on. That is the big black boxy thing that was near the front of your car on the passenger side, which had a tube running from it to the airbox.

Just cut a whole in the bottom, right under the filter...or just take the box off, and stick a filter at the end of the tube.
