ABS light, if anyone could help
I have a 97 LS. When I got it it was bone stock. Threw suspension, axle back 5 zigen, and intake on it. For some reason the ABS and check engine light came on. Everything worked fine so I didn't really care but now I'm working on selling it and need to figure out what the problem is. I gutted the cat so I think the check engine light might just be my O2 senser. Not sure. If anyone could help that would be awesome.

Yea run the check engine on the your car. Underneath the glover compartment. THe check engine and the ABS light will both blink. Somewhere in Honda-Tech they have the codes, or just by a Helms manual at your local auto part store. Normally the abs light goes off because, 1. you need to bleed your ABS pump (makes the buzzing noise when you first start it), 2. when you change your shocks and strut bars, you might have moved your abs sensor line. Thats what happen on mines at lease and it went away.
hey guys, how do u know if ur ABS is working?
because all the other honda with the ABS when i floor the brakes, i can feel the brake pad release pressure back n forth... but on my teg the brake just look the wheels and my car just slide forward... so does dat mean it doesnt work and how can i fix it?

haha... yeah if your wheels 'lock up' when you stomp on your pedal then your 'anti-lock' brakes are definately not working. But if your abs light isn't on then they should be working. Does the ABS light come on when you first start your car? If not then the bulb is burnt out, if it does then I don't really know enough about the abs system to know what could be wrong without throwing a CEL or your ABS light. My guess would be either a bad ABS brain or bad ABS pump/unit. But again those are guesses.
Also, just saw your sig that says you have a 94 LS with a gsr swapped... i'm guessing thats a gsr motor in your LS, then make sure the ecu of the car you used had ABS. Altough looking at my service manual wiring diagrams it doesn't look like the ecu talks with the abs system at all. So that might not be a problem.

You'll know your ABS is working when you slam on your brakes on a slippery surface and you brakes pulsates really fast and makes a thumping sound and feel. At that point, you do not let go of the brakes and you are able to steer your way from hitting anything in front of you. As soon as you release your brakes, because most people panic when they hear the loud noise and the hard pulsating feeling, the ABS is de-activated and you spin out of control. If you are engaging the ABS properly, but you're still not able to steer your way from trouble, then you should take it to a shop and have them check the system. Keep in mind, cars with ABS takes longer to stop, so if your wheels are locked and you car is sliding forward, it doesn't mean your ABS is not working. It sounds like it's working, but you're not steering your way from what's ahead of you. If your ABS is not working, your wheels will not lock up and you'll be sliding out of control and your ABS light will be on at all times.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

he's a good seller too. I bought a bunch of relay's off of him.

The ABS light came on right after I put springs on my car. The code it's throwing is front left sensor. I took the sensor off, cleaned it. And it still does the same thing. I can reverse out of my driveway and it wont come back on, I can break and everything, but when I start going forward, it seems like when I hit a certain speed the ABS light comes off and wont go off. I'm pretty sure my ABS isn't working at all. I slammed on the breaks and they locked up pretty easily. I'm supposed to be selling the car in a couple of days, if anyone has any ideas at all, I'd like to hear them. I'm starting to think the sensor may be bad. I dunno.
if your sure it's throwing a front sensor code, then replace the sensor.
If your just putting springs on the car, and it magically showed up. Then obviously you damaged the sensor somehow whether you knew it at the time or not. Front sensor's are easy to replace. Just a couple of 10mm bolts.
You couldnt have damaged the ring unless the axle was out for some reason. So just go ahead and replace the sensor.
good luck.

. Run the codes and get it fixed properly. How long did you run the car with the CEL on?
