Default Castrol?

I figured it was time to change my oil so i went to Cycle Gear today, and asked what the recomended. The guy instantly pointed to Castrol Actevo. It sounded like an honest opinion, as it's quite a bit cheaper then the Repsol, Mobile 1, etc, so i dont think he was trying to sucker me into something more expensive. He then asked how hard i drove it, and i admitted i was always on the throttle, usually low gear/high RPM's.

With that information, he recomended the 20w-50.

So basically... Castrol Actevo 20w-50 .. is this a good oil, and a good weight for my bike?

Not to mention, it's only $4.89/liter

Thanks guys

OK, I have a friend that is a assistant manager at my local cycle gear. He says that they have "prefered" brands of products. The Castrol is the "prefered" brand of motor oil. Whether for street or dirt they most likely will recommend castrol. Ok so why do they recomend castrol? They probably have a contract with Castrol or something like that. They have "secret shoppers" who come by and ask for recomended motor oils/prefered products. If they answer correctly and say Castrol they win a $100 instantly. No joke. So take it for what it is worth. I used Castrol R4 Superbike on my 03RR. The bad part of using R4 is that it is like 7 bucks a quart. So oil changes costs about 30 some odd $ every 3 months

IMO, as long as you do your oil change on time w/the right weight and viscosity, it won't matter what brand you use. After all, most brands that are available are all tested and SAE approved. That being said, use Motul

Use your oil window to check how much is in there.
