IF you replace a cluster and our Odometer is reset back to 0. They put a "certificate" in the door jam, Correct? Does this decrease the cars resale value?

 

honda would charge 149 for setting odo alone, i think the cluster post-5th gen can be programmed in pretty easy

 

I am asking because it was done. I was told it could not be programmed

 

I don't think it will decrease the car's resale value. I had to do that to mine though I swapped it with another speedo/odo at the honda dealer. Oddly though, they never placed a sticker or anything in the doorjamb.

i don't see how it would decrease valve IF everything was done in the dealership, i might be wrong but i think it can be programmed.

 

I dont know how that works but ive heard that the dealer should put a sticker in the driver side door jam to make it known that the ODO was changed and on that sticker it will represent what the old miles were and what the new miles are, basically the stop and start point.

 

Yeah, I had asked them about that and they didn't see the need to do that. But I still have the old cluster so I know the proper mileage.

So they didnt put a sticker in the door jam?

 

Nope, no sticker or anything. I wrote the mileage at the time of the changeover down so I at least know the actual mileage.

 

What about if you sell it? If the new owner registers it, Wont that show up on carfax?

 

I have a carfax report on it. There's nothing about the odo swap on there. If I sell it I'll just show the original cluster. That's proof enough, along with the service records.

 

its understood that you could do that, but would people be turned off from buying it?
