is 2" to 2.5" drop to low for 94 accord with 17's
Hi i have a 94 accord and i want to give it a drop i have 17's on it, so i was wondering if a 2"-2.5" drop was to low for it. And do you think i should drop it with new springs or cut da springs. Thanks
Ok, first things first, depending on the condition of the roads you are on, the condition of the struts you have on the car and the condition of the tires you have you may not want to lower the car this much. Then to prevent you from doing one of the dumbest things ever, do not, under any circumstance cut your springs. By cutting them you lower the weight carrying capacity of them and basically render them useless.
I suggest that you first research some different spring company's and see which offer what lowering options. A 17 inch wheel is standard on people's modified cars for the most part, even though ive revolved between 16, 17 and 18 on my accord.
I have a 1.5 inch drop and i think perhaps i should have gone 1.75 but as far as ride quality goes, the lower you go, the less ride quality you keep. Correct me if im wrong, but in Utica it snows like a *****, and if thats the case that means the roads are nothing to envy. I suggest you re-think your drop options.

with bigger wheels and a drop, you'll have similar ground clearance (assuming that your not runing uber low profile tires) to stock, there will just be no wheel gap. id suggest eibach sportline springs....i have them, and i love them, they're not too stiff, but they are a sharp contrast over stock, and handeling is a billtion times better (kyb AGX adjustable gas shocks)....
do no cut the springs. i know you've probably seen it on pimp my ride or monster garage or w/e, but its not a good idea for a daily driver. even if you cut in the exact same space, your messing with spring rates, which can be very touchy, and will be effected by shortenting botht he length and the stroke of the spring

yeah, cutting your springs is a pretty bad idea, everyone else who posted in this thread has already posted good reasons not to do it.
My car is dropped about 2.25" on 15's it isn't too bad to drive, but what everyone said about road conditions is important too. Since your on 17's you should have a bit more clearence. and the springs i have are neuspeed race springs.

My cars dropped 2.5" on my stock 15s. I doubt you want to cut springs. My friend cut his springs on his 91 accord and it bounced like hell. IMO 1.75-2.25 drop is good enough for your car.
