want to swap out my stock cx transmission but im too cheap to have someone else do it how difficult is it and would i need any special tools?

Not that difficult, on a level from 1-10 I'd give it a 6 due to removal of some certain suspension parts out of the way.

You basically need a a good set of basic mechanic hand tools and ratchet set, a floor jack, jack stand, and of course your Helms tech manual. Also put aside some time like a day if this is your first time doing it.

BTW the Helms manual will show you exactly which part is needed to be remove in order to get the tranny out.

also i have a d15b jspec sohc vtec motor with a cx tranny what is a good tranny to get and where can i get it for cheap?

Go with the d16z6 tranny...I did wonders on my d15....I can tell a drastic difference....better gear ratio....

yes z6 or y8 tranny=good

My Z6 tranny was a nice upgrade for my weak little D15B7 daily driver .
