Default quick simple relay question... 12v noobi help!

situation: I'm wiring my alarm so my power folding mirrors fold/unfold when i arm/disarm my car

problem: i jus got back from radio shack to get a relay and the only one they had available that was not a pin computer relay was a 30 amp relay. the specs are:

Will this relay work? I know how too hook up the relay, but i just want to make sure i don't short any wires and also insure that i won't have any electrical problems later down the line. What precautions should i take? (eg gauge wire, wire, 5amp fused wire, resistors, etc... ) Thanx

How do the mirrors work know? is it like a power window "rocker" switch, that you "rock" one way and hold it till the window stops and "rock" the other way and hold it till the window stops the other way? [up and down] [on/off/on momentary switch] or is it a one touch, like the auto down on most Honda/Acura drivers window. How do you get them to fold in and out now? 94

it's a one touch switch that came with the mirrors

Then unless you need to rev. polarity you probably don't need a relay at all, is it one switch that you touch and release and they fold in and then touch it again and it folds out? If so, all you would need to do is, if it's a neg. trip, [switch supplies a neg. pulse to mirror control modual] wire the alarms door lock outputs to the switch output wire, diodes will have to be installed to isolate the lock from the unlock and the mirror switch from the door lock switch 94

hmmm... but if i wire it to my power locks won't it fold/unfold every time i lock/unlock my car? I use my locks quite a bit even when my car is unarmed...

that relay isn't too much is it? what significance does the 30amp make? i kno the formula but is that too little resistance? not sure if i make any sense...

Because your mirrors are "one touch" tells me that the "signal" that is being sent from the mirror switch/button is low current, probably less then 200mA, the relay you have can carry 30A, and maybe needed to change the 200mA or so neg. (-) output of most alarms to a pos. (+) output, and can also be used to isolate the switch's, but you will need 4 of them to isolate, where as 4 diodes will take up less room the the mounting tab of one of the relays, [and no moving parts] so the first thing I would do is check what the mirror switch is sending the mirror control module, you will need a multimeter, DVM, or a test light, no matter what you end up doing you will have to know what the switch is doing, [it may even be just closing a circuit] if thats the case a relay, [1] will be needed. How many wires go into the switch? 94

the mirrors use their own relay. as long as you have that then your set. the alarm should have outputs when armed, like a pulsed or timed one. that needs to be set up to activate the mirror relay.
