i just started diconnecting things that lead to the airbag on the steering wheel. it's pretty simple.
Do you just want to disable the airbag? Or are you trying to remove it altogether to make way for a steering wheel swap?

i need to take it out and check out all my wiring cuz my horn and cruise control are both disabled and my srs light is on... and no, i am not going to just start disconnecting things
Disconnect battery, and wait 20-30 minutes for it to dissable. Should be ok from there to remove. I am not responsible for anything that happens(disclaimer), but this is how I did it on mine.
Be VERY careful handling that thing.

Fasten together the red short connectors found by removing steering whell access panel. Then disconnect the 3 pin connector between the airbag and cable reel and attach the short connector to the airbag side of the connector.
This is done AFTER disconnecting the battery and waiting for 20-30 minutes.

I've had my airbag out three times now, never once disconnected the battery. Last time I was listening to the radio while I did it.
Just don't do anything stupid while you're working and you'll be fine.
disconnect the plug to the airbag and plug in the red jumper and it's safe until you reconnect it.
no horn, no buttons and SRS light, sounds liek the ground is gone from the wheel. Make sure it's not the connection in the car that's doing it before diving into the wheel.
