Anyone running nitrous on stock timing?
I was wondering if anyone was running nitrous on stock timing. I have colder plugs and a 75 shot of zex. I HATE the way my car runs with retarded timing and I am going turbo soon so I got the BTM instead of the nitrous control MSD box. I rather run 15-17 degrees and no nitous but I dont use it often (a reving mustang needs a good spank once in a while) and I wanted to know how unsafe a few squeezes here and there would really be.
I had been running zex plugs but now I am running Denso IK20 witch is colder than the IK22 (stock). I have not sprayed with stock or advanced timing. I am looking for some feed back before I do. Nitrous really isnt worth it but if I can get away with it then I will try.
50 -55 shot or less you can get away with stock timing. anything over that you need to retard.
since you are going to boost soon it wont matter, but you can get an aftermarket ignition that will retard the timing when you arm the nitrous. then you just have to run the 2 step colder plugs at all times like you are doing already.

I'm not sure about your timing considering your running a JDM engine. H22A4 - USDM - with the 10:1 compression ratio reacts well to alot of ignition advance Naturally Aspirated. The rule of thumb (Per most of what I have read and experienced) is to retard only 2 degrees timing per 50hp. Honestly since It seems to me stock timing is somewhat retarded, I would take initial timing back to 13 Degrees from 15 and just spray a 75 without worry. (91 or higher octane of course)
Not saying this is fact. Just advice from my experience.

zex is not a true 75whp shot. it is flywheel more like 55 wheel. i run a zex 75 shot in my 5th gen w/no timing pulled and 93 oct. with NGK bkr7e spark plugs. never had any problems.
