Vin Location on engine block ?

Default Vin Location on engine block ?

A friend is gonna go look at a hybid hatch(C5) tomoro and we wanted to know where to look on the engine for the VIN#s

Gotta make sure its not a hott engine

right behind the header, just above the oil pan.
on the front of the motor near the a/c compressor.

j00 can see the tranny vin on mine, you might check that too. [edit out brain fart]
Edit #2, you can see the 2 rivets for the one on the block, below the dipstick t00b.

p.s. don't buy that "It's JDM though" if it says B18C5. That engine code is US market. JDM motor (B18C) won't have a plate.

its real simple.

unless theres a JASMA decal on the motor its stolen for sure since its in a hatch and all.

and yes, a block number can be ran to check if its hot

yes it can. It is the same as the VIN number on the car.

If the vin tag has been removed (same goes for the tranny).... it is the same is being stolen.

But OEM replacement parts do not have VIN plates, no? Would they have a blank green plate, or no plate/rivets at all?

they will just have the blank holes (ie. no hammer/saw/chisel marks).

the block will have redish orange paint over the b18c5 square area.
the tranny will just be missing the tag (i don't know of any way other than the case will be nice and clean.)
