that number on the block is your engine code. your vin# is rivited in the corner of the dash close to the windsheild. thats where mine is...
Actually its your engine code, and right under it is the engine serial number, not the VIN number. The VIN number is usually in 3 places, right over the ABS reserviour on the firewall, on one of the doors, and on your windshield.

I am wondering with the engine code on the motor can you get the mileage of the motor, when / if it was salvaged?
I am looking to buy a motor and would like to run (carfax or whatever needed) the motor 's ID so I know what the hell I am giving $3,500+ for
So, there is NO vin# on the motor, just engine codes

I believe that the engines do have vin numbers, but after 1996 before they didn't have

okay, so i hoave a question then involving serial numbers...the place i got my f20 form sold it to me as the sir-t motor; however because of some minor details like a smaller throttle body than an integra ls and a 3 wire iac motor i believe that it is just the sir w/ a manual tranny slapped on it. So my question is: is there a way i could contact honda of japan to give them the serial# to find out exactly what the deal is?
