Default NASA-VA Autocross on Sunday

Another great show by the NASA people (well Karen and Pat ). I had a blast, and everything went smoothly as always! Cant wait till the '02 season starts next month. Maybe i'll stay in one location long enough to run a full season with NASA and BRR instead of moving around like i have been every summer....

Yup, I had a good time as well, if only my driving were worth a crap...

My times will porbably look deceptively fast because I ran in the dry of the first heat, the later heats weren't so fortunate.

On the other hand, I got my butt handed to me by another Celica GTS and even more so by a Celica GT (damn you Scott).

Rumor is, when I go to play some GT3 tonight I will find out teh "optimal" setup for a Celica, something about 10 degrees of negative camber in the rear (to help with high G cornering! - have to offset the excessive body roll).

The Evolution School on Sat. was also a good time, I learned not to **** cones while wearing driving shoes. Oh - also, look ahead, no farther, no farther, no farther...

I had a good time as well although the weather was a bit of a bummer. It was raining on and off with constantly changing track conditions so it was impossible to compare times between heats... And the aforementioned "damn Scott" ran in the dry... And ultimately was a second and a half faster. But the season is long, and I foresee many a battle.

The rain was kinda fun... LOTS of four wheel drifting...

Those settings were, um, encouraged by Evolution School instructors, so they have to be "optimal." "Junior" thought setting up a couple cars would be your reward for being such a punctual student.

Just so you know, Scott, I take no credit for the "optimal" GT3 Celica setup... Hope it works out well for you...

OHHHHH, it was "Junior" that suggested that, was it?

Was it raining? Couldn't tell. The Scooby was running around the corners as usual...lol.

Typical good time. I for one would like to say good job to my Co-driver for a very fun course. Good job Kriemelmeyer.

I had bunches of fun. My runs were crappy because of those dam American Genreral 60 series tires.

But, the Kosei K1's and Khumo 712's will be here Wednesday!

later,

So ahh... how'd Tom and Larry run in the WRXs?

What, Hoffman remembered how to autocross something with some power?
How'd Ken run?

If you mean Tom Hoppe, I hear he pretty well put the smack down. We need to slow him down some. Maybe I'll have to get him hammerd Friday night before the Ft. Myers tour event...

Well, Tom wasn't at the top of the ProKhana heat, though 4 of the 5 top positions were -- you'd never guess this -- Subarus.... The results should be posted later; I'm just trying to finish entering them into the computer.

Yeah, the unfortunate thing is that the larger the area, generally, the faster the course. If you're not used to how your car reacts at high speeds, the results can be bad. I'm not going to speculate here on what happened. It was an unfortunate incident, though frankly, I'm glad if something had to happen, it happened at the very end of the day.

FWIW, it wasn't a "brand new" car, and he's been competing in it for at least a year.

Hey Sprinkel, Nathan couldn't take me until thursday. I figure a lot of this jiggling is due to tread squirm on the tires. I had thought that initially but discounted the possibility until someone who knows more than me suggested it.

Good to hear Shane and his car were not the ones hurt.

Of course Tom did cone his best run AFTER the timing lights... That would have been good for first. Also consider the level of experience. He has never even competed at a Tour event or even a divisional event. This is one if his first events outside of NC.

I think that the nasaracing.net webmaster has preliminary ProKhana results somewhere on the web.

Hey Eric, I don't remember any rain either!

I guess I didn't do too badly. I was just trying to stay ahead of some guy in a friggin' truck. I think I got him by a few HUNDREDTHS of a sec. But at least I was able to carry my GT3 skills to the course for a change. If only I could find a way to "bump" on the autocross course, huh Pat? As for Ken's times, he ran well and actually beat my raw time by a tenth or so. I don't think I actually miss the Civic after all! Sorry H-T!

Thanks again, Glen, for letting me take your less-than-1200 mile car around the course -- even if it did draw Ralph Priebe's attention....

fastest run had Doug Newhard as "navigator"

No these are pics that I took with my digital camera and John took while I was running.

Oh and like before if there is a pic that any of you like (like of you ) I can send you the full resolution image for printing, desktop wallpaper, etc.
