low and what suspension to use?
I have a 99 civic sir. Right now my car is at about a 2.5inch drop (all i know is my tires tucks just ever so slightly) and i love the stance and look of the car. I have coilover sleeves and kyb agx's but the back two are blown after a year and a half obviously.
I want something that can actualy take that type of drop, still preform well, and last long even through winters since i drive my car all year round. I don't mind if they are stiff since i dont want to bottom out, i just don't want something that is bouncy.
I've been reading about omni and d2 coilovers, but i'm not sure if they can take that type of drop and figured i'd start a topic to see if anyone else is this low, what they are using and how the ride is on them. I've heard koni's w/ GC sleeves and good as well but maybe not for that much drop. I know you can get short stroke shocks but have no idea where to get them or hw expensive they are and i want to keep the limite to say roughly the price of the d2's unless more will get me an amazing setup.
Any advice or comments would be appreciated!

there aren't alot of off the shelf shocks that can handle that much drop for a long period of time. not sure if the tein FLEX, JIC, or Buddy Club suspensions with their advertised "ride height independent of shock travel" can handle them either. maybe they can, but it'll cost you.
the koni/GC route requires you to send the shocks back to koni NA to be shortened. costs about $100/corner (or is it $100/corner to have em shortened and revalved?), so it's not exactly cheap, but it's a good way to combine a quality shock with your desired ride height, and have it work reliably for a long period of time. not sure if the same lifetime warranty applies to a factory modified shock, though.
considering that you've already got the sleeves, the cost of you getting shortened konis is much lower than buying one of those blingy JDM suspensions. though if they're not GC's i'd switch to koni-specific GC's if you're going to go this route. if you are not going to switch, you will need specific hardware to use the sleeves with koni yellows.

i live in canada (unfortunately when it comes to all this car stuff since everything has to be shipped here). But for me here, konis are probably $700-800ish CND and then by the time i pay another $400 US plus shipping i'm looking at about $1300 CND with no shipping and without proper sleeves for them. Looking at a set of omni coilovers which i can get for 930 CDN shipped to my door is quite a big difference in price. So that is where i am coming from. I'll definetly look into that though and maybe i can get a better deal than what they sell locally here. Thanks for the tips and definetly keep them coming!!
I drive the same car as you and believe me the omnis will give you more than enough drop, you will brake other things before you blow them from having the car too low. Thier shock travel is independent of the ride hieght so i believe you should be able to get your 2.5" drop with them without affecting the damper. however, i have a set with the short lower collars, they have redesigned them to be longer now so you would have to do some research to see how low they can go now.
the ride is prety decent still? I know she'll be a little stiff but i just hate that bouncy feeling. Have you had to use the warrenty yet? I have read they ahve a wicked 2 year no questions asked warrenty.
haha, maybe thast why people pay me to drive up and down their driveways!
It doesn't work out too bad though once i take all my lips off for the winter. I'm not tucking that much, its more just no wheel gap at all
