Balancer shaft yes or no question????????
I did some search but I need to confirm this with someone who's actually done it. Will it **** something up if I remove just the belt and not the actual shafts? The motor is in an EK and I have Hasport mounts. The actual engine is an H23 with type s pistons and h22 head, manual tensioner. I'm about to install the timing belt and I need to know soon and I really need to know if it's ok to leave the balancer shaft belt off. Thanks in advance...
Thanks a lot sir, thats all I wanted to know... Maybe in the future i will do the elimination kit, but i have to get my car off the lift now, and I wanted know if it was ok to leave the shafts on without the belt.... thanks again!!

I have mine removed for a couple months now. Vibrations are only noticeable the first 2 days I got the car back. Afterwards, unnoticeable vibrations. No problems whatsoever.

there is a member on here that sells them for $20 shipped, way better than $82 shipped. ive had mine for a while, IMO its not worth doing unless you have a "full race" set up

Have been running without a balancer belt for about a year or so, no problems what so ever. You'll notice your H22a1 accelerate a little faster.

What risk?? The risk of spilling your coffee??
Removing the balance shafts does not hurt the engine, it just causes more vibration.

I don't think so. There is more work than just the removal of shafts needed such as blocking the oil passages.

Yes it is... I would like to thank you guys for the help, I removed the belt and the car doesn't vibrate any different than what it used to, It feels the same.
I went to the track and My best time was 12.162 @115.7mph, with a slipping clutch. I hope to go 11's soon

You guys are tempting me to grab a 10mm and some scissors

So the the motor won't have any oil pressure issues if you leave
the shafts in and just cut the belt?

I have seen motor mount dampers and similar things to absorb vibrations and rocking from the engine. If vibrations did occur from balancer belt removal would it be something curable using some sort of modifcation on the mounts or damper?

From what I understand that is used for launches. I don't really know how bad the balancer belt removal is, I was just wondering if there is a something to cure the issue in the event I choose to go this route. (I have an almost chipped crank pulley on my new engine, I was going to underdrive when I get more funds to afford the new pulleys and maybe look into removing the balancer belt and associated shafts - so I am just doing research for the future... yes I would do this now while the engine is out, but I have done too many mods on the engine as it is and don't have the funds, need my engine in so I can go back to work
