everything you mentioned sounds good. don't forget to get a valve job and maybe even mill the head a little to bump your compression up. what kind of power are you looking to make? is this gonna be your daily driver as well?

go .030 thousandths and use a stock headgasket. and you're gonna have to advance the intake cam +2 and +2 on the exhaust cam as well. so you're gonna need adj. cam gears.

Ya everything sounds good you should mill the head like they said but use a thinner headgasket then OEM. Slap a ITR exuast cam in it and I wouldn't go +2 on the exuast but -1. I had the same setup in a hatch with a GSR motor and lost power advancing the exuast cam........................Maybe a vafc and have someone tune it for you.

just remember the more you mill the head you have to compensate by advancing the cams. also by using a thinner head gasket you have the chance of valve to piston clearence issues. stick with the stock headgasket and you'll be fine.

Explain rebuild it i.e entire motor? Dont waste your time milling the head unless needed (because of warpage), compression will be raised but not enough to notice anything. What are your goals/intentions for the motor?

If your trying to gain some compression get some usdm itr pistons and slap em in since your replacing the bearings, new rings and cast pistons will run about $250. Those pistons should bring you into the 11's cr, but it all depends on what you want out of the motor just something with a little passing power or a beast.?

well if you plan on tearing the whole engine down to replace eveything, then yeah slap some itr or p30's in the block with a fresh hone. might as well change out the oil/water pump. sorry bro i didn't know you were planning to tear down the whole motor, i thought you were just gonna fix the headgasket and call it a day thats why i said mill the head. but good luck on your re-build bro.

Im not hating, just wanna clarify USDM ITR pistions in a GSR block w/ a stock GSR head will give you roughly 10.8:1 with a stock head gasket, unless you are also milling the head. I went with PR3 wihich will give me 11.5.1 w/ a stock head gasket.

Like Juggernaut 2 said, it all depends on what you want. Daily driver or Race. With 91 pump gas in CA, I wouldnt go anything past 11.6:1 comp ratio. This is info I got from my builder.

You also want to check the condition of the block and see if OS pistons are needed. It would suck to have a fresh hone, install the pistons and experience piston slap.

I myself went with a fully built motor. I made sure I did it right. Spent a **** load of money. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck with the build.
