H22 OEM Valve Question
-ok I was searching around on this topic but wasn't able to find much.
I'm in a current build and I'm trying to find my weakest link in the setup before she all goes together.
I'm running Jun cams with the Jun Valve train and with new oem valves.
the block holds JE 11.5:1's and crower rods.
My question is how well do OEM valves hold up? I know that ultimently some supertech's would be better but by how much? I'm just about to the end of this build with some holes in my pocket like everyone else and just want to know if its a solid necesity to upgrade.
If they do end up being something that really should be done than I would like to know before I have this thing put together and find out the hard way.
thank you

You should be fine with OEM valves unless you plan to rev really high, at which point some lighter valves may be the way to go. You can save a lot more wieght with valves than you can with retainers. Good luck and let us know how it goes...

That doesn't really answer why you shouldn't use OEM valves past 60,000 miles.

Why?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Possible breakage.
Valves go thru torture. Combustion heat, then get a chill blast of relatively cold air/fuel. Then they can also be floated which hammers them on the seat. Do that for a million cycles and then ask them to be used in an even more extreme app where a/f (pre-tune) is not a good and more rpm.
