Default n00b in this thread, be noice, got a few Q's

Hello all, I'm Alex,

I'm going to be buying an '04 S2000 (silver/red interior). I found it on msn autos, but there's something special about this car, plz read...

this guy is selling his for $8000, he's sent me 25 pics or so, and everything looks in place, no scratches, no bumps, inside is fantastic (the colours i was looking for), and it has just over 28,000 miles. Now he bought this car in CA, then he moved to Europe, and it's there now, but he'll ship for free. I've agreed to give him a $2000 deposit, then when it arrives to get it checked out (what would be the best place to check it out? just an ordinary garage? or honda dealership?) I've done CARFAX, and AUTOCHECK with the VIN number, and nothing seems to be wrong with it. I've asked him what's wrong with it, he says nothing....just HAS to sell it (but obviously he could sell it for MUCH better than $8000...)

AS S2000 pro's (you) should i be suspecting something (well obviously i should be) but even if something is MINORLY wrong with it, arn't i saving like, $20,000 here? so i could fix small probs. plus i'm not planning on chaning anything on this car (well maybe a thing or two), it's beautiful as it is (silver ext, red/black int.) I'll try to post a few pics.
many thanks
Alex

it's an obvious scam. The car will never come...a UPS guy will not come to your door towing an s2000.

godspeed

well apparently he bought it an au auction... scam or no scam, it's got my attention still. So instead of a 2G deposit, should i negotiate a lower price? 1G, something that is quite expensive, yet, wouldn't kill me if i lost it. I am to make the deposit via 'Western Union' online.
VIN is : JHMAP21424T000789

2soonjr, what makes you think he's going to post it by UPS?? there are shipping companies, where u can ship the car to any address in the world. I know this because i had a vw gti vr6, and wanted to ship it to brussels, and it reallly is quite simple, all you need is a destination address, and voila!

I'll probably ask for some sort of collateral, incase he tries this stunt all of you talk about.... what do u propse? i havn't givem him the deposit yet.
alex
p.s. how do u post pics?

what if i get Square Trade involved? and plus, it's not like it was the only one, go to autotrader.com and look for s2000's, you'll see loads of 2002's with under 40,000 miles that are being sold for under 10G's. the question is what's wrong with you?

apparently you dont understand this scam........good luck to you....

and i just checked autotrader, an i only saw 2 for less than 10k and one had frame damage.......

there were only a handful under 20k.......

and what is a square trade?

search on here, and you will see all kinds of threads about scams......described just like yours......

the only reason you can only find 2 NOW is probably because they got sold. infact 2 weeks ago i was in touch with another guy who was selling his 2004, with 706 miles(!) for 10,000, and i was about to make the deposit, but a dealership in NY bought it before me, and now they're selling it on ebay for 22,000$. how is that a scam? the guy sold it for 10,000, and now the dealership is selling it for over 20G's. nothing was changed with the car.
you're right i don't understand, i've never bought a car on the internet, i like to test drive them, feel the b4 hand, but i've already driven an s2000. I agree its a risk, but $2000 (i'm trying to get him to lower it to a $1000 deposit) is not a GREAT deal of money... i mean it is a lot, but compared to the amount i'd be saving IF this isn't a scam...
SO CONFUSED RIGHT NOW

You're obviously stupid. Don't come crying on the board after you realize your car isn't going to be towed to you.
