why am i losing top end power?
i was on the highway yesterday and i decided to take it up a bit after i put my new ngk plugs in, car lowered, and stock wires back in. i was at about 125 and it was struggling badly. what could account for this?
Do you mean the motor was hesitating, missing, hideous loss of power, or do you mean that when you hit fifth gear it didn't pull hard? If it's the first three scenarios, you said that you replaced your plugs, check gap? make sure they had good connection with wires? wires old and could have pulled partially apart from the force of pulling them off the old plugs? There are a few things that could cause that and most likely since you changed plugs, it has something to do with the ignition. If however you haven't tried this in your car before, speed wise, then you arn't familiar with an LS transmission, and thats just what it does when you get into fifth gear...
no i've got it up to 142 or so before i know what it can do and cant do. it was possibly the spark plug gap. and i should get new wires i suppose. the ones i had on there actually broke when i pulled them off. they were OBX. i put the stock ones back on. i'll check the gap.
My friend had OBX wires on his VTEC Accord, and those things were poorly made, they came apart within a month of having them... You should look into a set of MSD Super Conductors, they are excellent wires, had them on my Civic, and have had them on my Ls for a long time, and taken them on and off, a lot..Never came apart on me...
weird my LS doesnt go past 125...well i didnt really try that long but from what i can remember it hit its max...but otherwise go with ngk or msd wires

I've been driving on my OBX-R 10.3mm wires now for over a year, and they are still like new. your friend obviously did something wrong or bought some shitty ones.

haha. i dunno why your LS cant get over 125. it should get past that with some ease. yea the OBX sucked. i tried to pull them off so slowly and they ripped apart on 3 of the 4. glad i kept the old ones. yea i'll look at the msd. sounds good to me.
