Default ignition switch?

just curious what the symptoms of a bad ignition switch is? i think mine has crapped out on me. the car cranks up some times then shuts right off, not gradually either, it shuts off like a switch, and wont crank back up. it turns over perfect it just doesnt catch. i have a dohc zc swap into a hf. i have new plugs, plug wires, dizzy, coil and ignitor. also throws the code 15 when it shuts off.

My car did that too. I'm not sure what it was because I sold it before I could figure it out lol. The only way you're really going to figure it out is to hook up a volt/ohm meter up to it and take voltage readings from the switch whenever it acts up. Or you could just guess and replace it lol.

I used to have a spare one, I might still have it if you're interested. I need to check in the shop first though...

Had the same symptoms in my 89 Si. Would start, but very finiky. After trying a main from my parts car with no luck, I talked to my uncle who has worked on many Hondas he told me to replace the ignition switch which I did... my car has been running fine ever since. I took the plastic cover off the old one only to find out that there was mad dust and crap inside messing up the contacts. You might want to pull it and spray it with contact cleaner and try to get the "dust bunnies" out for a cheap fix.

HTH.... just my .02 cents of experience

I had the same problem. I cleaned it and it worked for a few more days then crapped out again so I ordered a new one. The pain in the *** with my car was resoldering all the alarm wires for the ignition cut off which the installer soldered into the ignition harness. good luck
