Default Dented Header Hurt Performance??

i wanted to see what you guys think about this pretty good size dent i have in my comptech long tube header. i bought it like this so it wasn't my fault, but i want to see if it's big enough to where it's gonna hurt the performance and should do something about and if it is what can i do??

Thanks. Alex.

I would definitely suggest repairing the damage, especially on a high-end header such as that. Willard performed a similar repair a while back on a JDM ITR 4-1. Here's a link to his thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=800124

if i cut the dent out and weld in a new piece, isn't that going to weaken that area??

Not if the welding is done properly. You shouldn't even need a new piece. As seen in Warren's thread, you should be able to reshape the cutout piece and then weld it back in.

It will restrict the exhaust flow out of one cyl and cause it to run hotter and possibly leaner or richer. I would reapir that or replace it asap.

shouldn't hurt performance that much.

I personally wouldn't worry about it.

having that small of area taken out of the cross- section is just like having an o2 sensor there.
minimal effect on overall flow of an exhuast system.

Couldn't you just PDR it, you know, pop it out with the same tools they use to pop dents out? Just a thought.

I would't carry the deted header burden on my shoulder.

mine was worse than this , and I cut two exact pices and we TIG welded it on the opwen patches.

I ll send u some pics of it later
