Problems removing front LCA
Info on my car: its a 99 Civic Si, been through 4 winters, has about 145k miles.
I got in a accident involving a large bowling ball size rock and bent a front driver side LCA. I tried to out maneuver it but it was too late, it scrapped the side of my front lip and hit the back end of my rim, popping my tire and putting a huge dent on the lip of the rim. It flew up in the air and smacked straight down on to the pavement. To add to my problems, I also have really bad negative camber.
The other day my neighbor and I get around to replacing my LCA, sway bar link and lower ball joint but for some reason the nut off the lower ball joint just won't come off. We keep hitting it with a impact gun but all it does is spin the ball joint in a oval motion. There's really no way to hold the ball joint in place to get that nut off so we're kinda stuck. It probably doesn't help that the nut looks rusted to ****. We're guessing its that ball joint that's causing the unusual negative camber. We sprayed some PB Blaster on it, still doesn't help. We tried using a channel lock to hold that bitch in place.. still doesn't hold. This is the only thing stopping us.. if we can get this nut off, then we could have this thing fixed in 15 mins.
I'm searching through my Helms manual and I see that I need a ball joint remover to get it out. Is there other ways besides using this tool? Is there another way to get the LCA out without removing that nut? I start summer classes Monday and its my only form of transportation so quick responses would be nice! Thanks in advance.
