Electrical help needed
All of the following happens when i turn the lights on, not with just the running lights turned on, the headlights have to be turned on.
When i turn the lights on, the tach goes off. Also, the turning signals stay on in the front the whole time. They will blink if turned on, but they are on the whole time. The high beam indicator doesn't come on either, though the high beams come on just fine.
When the lights are off, everything is fine. Tach works fine, turn signals, and if you pull the turning signal lever (like you were turning on the high beams) the high beams come on and the indicator shows up just fine.
Anything is possible with this car, i have done and redone pretty much everything in the vehicle. More cut and spliced wires than i care to think about. So any ideas of where to start would be appreciated.

what kind of car is it?
But I would look at the wire for the lights its propably spliced or shorting out somewhere causeing your electrical headache. Id trace all the wires in the colum and under the dash first. Also you may want to check out the headlight switch just for kicks might be something in there as well.

I would guess that there is a short to power in your steering column. I doubt it is a short to ground anywhere because if that was the case you would be blowing fuses like it was your job.
thanks for the replies. As strange as it sounds, I started wiggling around the connections for my turbo timer, and it went away. Went back and soldered those connections and it seems to have straightened it out.
