Default Custom X Bar

Instead of buying the miracle x bar, does anyone know how to do it custom? cause i saw an EG today and he used really long c-pillar bars to make the x bar. Has anyone done this before?

it would be really easy if you had a welder. it's not a whole lot more than just welding them to the floor. i'd stick with a 3/4" or 1" or so steel tube to get way better rigidity, though. i've never liked those funny aluminum strut tower bar things (although my car has 3. what a fu**er i am). i have a welder and the time and the bar sitting in my garage, but i don't feel the weight justifies the gain in handling. maybe if i rode in a car that had one and liked the ride maybe i'd go ahead and do it.

Making all of the bars and attaching them on the trunk would be easy. But what is the best way to attach to the C pillar? Most of thoses bars are bolted in. Just weld it? Or try to bolt it in?

better yet, take the ends off a C-pillar bar. bolt the ends in or weld them in. better to weld probably, but put a plate where you weld it so the sheet metal doesn't deform. now you have a perfect bar to weld up to from other places. if you're welding in this much steel, though, you'd probably save some weight by just using a 4-pt or 6-pt roll cage and welding that in. it would look a lot better, too, IMO. but if you're bent on this then that's how i'd do it. anybody know if it's even worth the time it takes? i'm not convinced it's worth the $50 in steel.

that setup looks impressive, but there's so much flex built into those little mounts it's almost embarrasing. plus, all that crap probably cost a fortune. if anyone is local and wants to donate their car for an afternoon i'm sure i could fix something up. bring a few 10' steel tubes from home depot or something and i bet i could weld something up. gimme like $50 for my time and whatnot and i'll be happy. oh yeah and bring a couple square feet of 1/4" steel plate and a good saw or something to cut it all with. seriously this isn't a very expensive project.

You should really shut the hell up. I don't need your lame opinion about it not being bolted down. If anything it should be custom welded. So you can take your ******' lame *** comment elsewhere, or tell your faggit friends that might even care. If anything, I don't need **** coming from you.

No, if you knew me as probably as a friend, you would most likely have a different opinion, which is why I said what I said. For a faggit like yourself.

Sorry broadcast professionals. And anyway, there's no loose play within the cage whatsoever, you can ******' dropkick it and won't see it move.

I tell it how I see it.

It amazes me that some people drive around with a DA cage in DC not mounted properly. Isn't a cage made to prevent injury, not cause injury? Just my 2 cents, no need to get hurt.
