Default 7thGen Accord

I have a 2005 7thGen Accord with 5000 miles on it... It's a basic LX I4 edition... and so I want to modify it a bit. But I don't think I should do it anytime soon? Because it's still really new and I JUST had my first oil change with the 5W20...

But I guess my question is, if I were to alter things, I would go change the "rims" to aftermarket rims and the suspension system... I've been looking around the forums but found little information on the 7th Gen Accord. Any suggestions? I'm guessing I should put more miles on my car before I do anything to it too right? I graduate from college next June and would modify then if I don't do anything this summer.

I care more for quality rather than value. But value is good too!

You know what the thing is about what you've just asked, its slightly general. You say its a 4cylinder engine, are you looking for more power? Suspension is pretty simple, you have one of two or three choices. Lowering springs, they lower the car a fixed ride height and are stiffer than stock stiffening up the ride but allowing for more aggressive handling. Coil sleeves, which i think are by far the worst, which allow you an adjustment in ride height but are said to not last too long (the set i had didnt ). Thirdly, a full coilover system, which runs close to $1000 for a good one sometimes. With a full coilover system you have greater flexibility over ride height and sometimes even dampening control.

As far as rims are concerned, thats more of a personal taste, it depends what look you want, the bling effect with some nice chromies, or perhaps the JDM look with a cool set of Rota's, or perhaps what a lot of people do, find another Honda wheel that is from another Honda car that fits your lug pattern. People have different styles and tastes, it all depends on what you want. I suggest the tires you get with the rims take more of the importance in your decision.

There are lots of other mods you can do which can increase both the cosmetic value and the power. I suppose, its just a matter of sitting down, figuring out what you want and then mapping it all out and doing each thing one by one. Just remember, usually quality costs more, and when looking for deals, you have to be super patient!

Okay, Confuc1ous, To better "ask" you and explain my situation, yeah I guess I was very vague...

I have a 2005 Accord Coupe 5spd I4. With that said this is what I'm looking for...

Rims, functional, clean, no chrome... Or more, where is a GOOD place to get rims and look for a nice selection. I know there are thousands of Rims on the market, but I want to know the better places to shop for them, quality and deals etc... I know a friend, he bought his 17s plus performance street tires for about $900, a set of four for his honda civic. I want deals where my tires are installed already, I'm pretty lazy. I'm thinking about installing 18s on my accord pluse performance street tires.

As for suspension, my first choice would be the full coilover set, I know Tien is a good brand, but I don't want to know about just Tien, I want to know about other brands, ones that perform best for the 7thGen accord. If not, lowering spring kits that are suitable for stock shocks and dampers. It's just that my accord feels heavy at times and the shocks dont seem to hold up at those stupid triangular speed bumps on campus (UCSB), and I hit hard sometimes so I have to go over speed bumps really slow. I'm looking to lower my car AND have stiffer suspensions.

Currently, those are the only things I would modify right now. Additional things can come later...

I hope that was more specific for you... Oh also, I've seen an accord coupe 7thGen with the front license plate buried inside the bumper, where the air opening is... would you need any modifcations to your bumper for that or can you just stick it in there?

THanks........ hehhe my avatar says "noob" and I cant change it... hhaahaha

For 2 weeks, while you're a trial user you can't change your avatar. Ok, lets see, a coupe, nice, uhm, a few good places for wheels, i guess the few places i know are... http://www.wheelguyz.com / http://www.wheelsnext.com / http://www.wheelmax.com / http://www.machiii.net / im not 100% sure of the last one but those are a starting point for you ---edit---the last site link works!

As far as suspension goes (Neuspeed, Eibach, Ground-Control, Tein, H&R, Intrax, Sprint---to name a few), have you checked out any manufacturers sites? Have you checked any application lists to see if these parts are abundantly available for your car, i suggest doing that first.

Tein is a good brand, i suggest you, by using the search featurehere, search such keywords as TEIN, or coil-over, suspension, and others like that, and make it so it only searches the Accord forum on this site. There are lots of brands that are good and valuably priced etc... Just make sure you do some research.

http://www.inlinefour.com
http://www.prostreetonline.com

Start with those, good starting points. Also check out the marketplace forums on this site for deals and groupbuys for a lot of different aftermarket parts, you will be surprised what you can find. Just stay away from Muteki lugs, they suck!

Thanks for the info, two questions...

Neuspeed, isnt that specifically for volkswagens?

Also...

How are Mugen and Spoon parts? I'm guessing they're pretty darned expensive compared to others, but they should also be better because they are specifically designed for Hondas right? And how, because I can't seem to find dealers for Mugen and Spoon parts....

And HKS is good too?

Hhaa okay, sorry more like 5 questions.

btw... thundercats are awesomeeee

neuspeed make springs and suspension/shifter pieces for a large variety of honda's and acura's. Check them out.

Mugen and Spoon parts are excellent but i dont see them making too many parts for the domestically manufactured accords. The TSX in europe is the Honda Accord so if they are making parts it will probably be more for that accord, of course i could be wrong but thats where my logic lead's me. I think comptech might be more up your alley if they have started to engineer parts for your car. HKS, its a big name much like many of the others you mentioned but the only experience ive had with them is using their products when i had my Poopra. They make excellent products also but their applications for your car might be limited.

Feel free to ask all the questions you want, even if they are obvious or you might think they are dumb, i guarantee you that any answer given by someone here will inform someone reading along. Regardless, Thundercats are the ****, I concur.

There are so many brands, and a lot of times because of their brand awareness, that is what they use to set their prices. A lot of times ive come across people using more rare brands, lesser used brands and they have performed identically and have held up just as well. Never overlook some of the middle of the road brands. Oh yea, there are certain things that should be understood with certain products, so feel free to post that up here in the forum so people can throw you some info or what to look out for.

i dont know about HKS, but i doubt you will find much from mugen since its more of a JDM thing and the US accord is exclusive here, i might be wrong though.

i would start off with suspension, im going to lower my car with Eibach Prokit springs. it will give the car about a 1.5inch drop, but there are also the eibach sportlines, which lower it 2.5 inches, a bit stiffer but it handles better. there are also H&R and Tein and others, Neuspeed isnt only for VW, ive seen them make products for other cars...

then i would go for a nice muffler, to get that wimpy sound out of your way

then some nice rims, matching your car, and maybe a nice tint

any if you wanted to go farther with engine mods the cars ready with a nice suspension for good power to weight transfer and a muffler ready for anything with some nice wheels.
