Default 92 accord safety indicator lights dont alway go off

92 accord safety indicator lights go off sometimes as they should, and other times they slowly go off say in 5 minutes or so. When this occurs the speedo doesn't always function correctly, it will read the correct speed, then drop to zero. And if I try to set cruise the "D" Flashes. If I shut it off then restart it will run flawlessly maybe for days.

I have the same problem. My lights come on over one to two minutes. I saw a bulb check circuit somewhere, could this have something to do with it? I've replaced all bulbs checked and all my lights work like they should. I even replaced the brake light stop switch. please help or tell me how this safety circut works. thank you.

In the manual it refers to it as the "safety indicator" is thes section of the dash that warns you about the condition of the car, door open or trunk open, or if a brake light is out.

I think that there must be something drawing power, but what would drawn enough for it to slow light up but not blow the fuse? it is a ten amp fuse.

I am planning on takeing out the instrument cluster and taking it all apart to try to figure out what it is, but that may be next month by the time I do it.

I took out the instrument cluster and took it apart. It was the circut that had started to melt and short a capictor. I cleaned the circut and reset the tach mounting screws to their original settings and also on the Brake Warning light circut the same thing had happened. this fixed that and the jumping tach. if you need detailed instructions I can provide them. Thanks for all the good tips.

At the begging of this post there is a ? as to the "D" flashing. this happens when the VSS (Vehichle speed sensor) stops sending a signal while the car is running. Check it by reffering to the manual to test it. also the speed sensor is hard to find. if you need help it is, if looking straight down from the passangers side, under the air intake system, just to the left of the distrubutar cap. it is on the transaxle. so it is real low down to the bottom. you will need a light to see it. it has a three pin elctric connection on top and the body is triangluar in shape bolted on by two 10 or 12 MM bolts. it is real easy to do if you can find it.
