Default engine problems....

i own a 1990 honda civic dx hatch (4 spd stick), i bought it from a pizza hut delivery boy for $900, he siad it had blown a head gasket but that he fixed it. a month later...it blew the head gasket again...6 months after it sat in my yard, i finally got enough money to get a remanufactured head, head bolts, complete gasket set (all replacement parts needed to really fix the problem). the guys that helped me fix my car said to run the oil in it for 500 miles and flush the radiator, etc. ive done all of that and everything seemed to be fine. my car still smokes, a little when driving normal, but if i have to downshift it smokes like **** all the way through the gear and into the next one. i confronted the guys that helped me fix my engine and they said it was more than likely the piston rings that had probably been fried. i admit to not knowing a whole lot about engines, just enough to get by...and more than the average person. i plan on doing a 1st gen dohc zc swap in a few months. i was wondering if the piston rings being fried will cause any problems other than smoking, and if "smoke away" is bad for your engine (seeing as how it is basically gunky ****) and if not, does it work?

also, i was wanting to get some opinions on which wheels i should get for my car.
right now its blue, but im painting it anti-freeze green on the bottom 3/4 of the car, and a kinda dark bronze on the top 1/4, with either a black or silver boundry in between.

so far ive come across 5zigen, buddy club, and rays gramlights wheels that i can afford and that will fit. btw if you know of any other bronze wheels on the market (preferabely japanese) it would be of much help. i cant spend much more than $1000 on wheels alone. ok anyways, the wheels ive picked out are pictured in links below, thanks for your time and/or advice/opinion if you leave any.

ok, 4 speed is not a dx, it's an std, i'm pretty sure. they're basically the same minus some options, a camshaft, ecu, and a couple engine bolt ons, and a transmission, though.

piston rings really won't hurt anything, it'll just have less power, etc. if it doesn't bother you, just keep driving it.

just making sure, by first gen dohc zc, you don't mean d16a1, right? because the d161 is commonly called a 1st gen teg zc, but it won't bolt in our cars right.

i don't know smoke away specifically, but i know a lot of products like that are just diesel fuel. i wouldn't bother.
