Crashed Crx....
I was making a U turn after the light went green... 1/4 way into making the U turn.. right when i hit the gas i heard a POP! CLUNK!! noise. and next thing i know, i couldn't turn the steering wheel back straight! So it went straight for the curb! and slammed into a pole.. =\
Friend came with tow trunk.. check out what that pop was... the LEFT driver side front AXLE got disconnected from the SHALF!? .. sob.
Sob for the all the work put into the crx.
I'm trying to figure out. how the heck did the axle DISCONNECT from the shalf?
It wasn't mess up or anything. I bought it brand new 3 months ago.. damn.

how's the damage? hopefully repairable.
i've rebuilt cv shafts before, and it could be two things:
A. i've seen this happen before, the axle shears off from more torque than it was meant to sustain, happened in my friends cavalier z24 when the shop gave him a regular cavalier cv.
or B. when they rebuilt it, they forgot one of the circlips, causing it to not be "held together" by anything except the boot, and then it just slid out of the splines.
i guess it could be other things, too, but i'm leaning towards B, because you were making a sharp u-turn.
investigate it, if the cv shaft is only a few months old, and from a reputable place, it should be their responsibility if it was rebuilt wrong and caused an accident.
i forget, what engine did you have in it?

i'm thinking the same thing.. I looked at the axle and there wasn't a circlip .. could of fallen off when i was driving? we'll i know that it holds the axle to the shalf and in that shalf there's 3 rotating circular disc. . . it might had slipped off.
nah, the honda circlips won't fall off. they fit tightly in that slot at the end, they're basically a heavy duty snapring without the eyelets on the end. they're a bitch to get on sometimes when rebuilding the cv shafts, which would explain why when it was getting rebuilt it could have been forgotten about.
At first I was thinking lower balljoints because mine break bi-monthly lol. If your car is slammed, or if your using cheap mounts your axels might not be seating correctly. For them to operate correctly they need to be at a certain angle or perfectly straight. The hasport mounts take this into consideration when putting a Bseries into an EF chassis. My guess is more than likely you have a shitty mount of a worn out mount causing motor or trans sag. It sagging, conjoining with the strange angle of your axels as your dropped car turned would be just enough to pull the axels apart. Especially if your not using the right size axel. Just because it fits, doesn't necessarily mean its the correct length for your application. Just some idea's to take into consideration. Good luck with fixing, shouldn't take more than an hour.
