Default bore...1.6 to ??? (b16a2)

What exactly does bore the engine mean? I know it will give you more litres but how does a mechanic do it? Also what are the pros and cons of boring a b16a2 in my 2000 civic si with 50,050 miles? My last question is how much can I bore the engine?

When you bore the engine out, you have to take it to a machine shop in your area. They'll use a special drill that will take off just enough material to get the desired bore and they'll hone the walls afterwards.

Pros: newly finished cylinder walls and more accurate round walls, new rings and pistons, more displacement

Cons: Money since you have to buy new pistons and rings, reduces that total thickness of the cylinder walls

I wouldn't bore a B16 more than 82mm unless you have the block sleeved but sleeving would cost you a pretty penny.
