Default B16A swap in EF

I checked on hybrid honda and searched but didn't find much good information. What exactly is necessary for a B16A swap in a 88-91 Civic besides the engine, tranny & ecu? I realize there is extra wiring but I can't find many good writeups on the swap regarding axles, hubs, mounts (either changing mounts in car or alternate mounts on the engine?), sensors, wiring etc...

Yes, there must be an alternative to $449 billet engine mount kit. What is the clearest cheapest way to mount it?

i have same problems you have... the mounts are the most troubling part for me.. i want a cheap solution but it's not gonna happen

i think hybrid honda link is garbage for 4th gen b16a swap info..

onlything it tells us is to buy the hassport kit which some of us don't wanna pay 800 + canadian + shipping for mounts when the motor only cost us 1500 cdn

they don't tell us what to expect after the swap what would be optional replacement things like oil pump timing belt upgrading stuff soo the b16a will run fine..

http://www.hcpengineering.com you are going to need the 18x kit, 4 mounts all polyurethane and they have a shift linkage too, for the same price as the hasport kit. There is no clear indication if one kit is better than another when it comes to hasport vs hcp, but its good to know you have a choice.

I like the HCP mounts...4 mounts instead of 3 seems better to me. For wiring I'd screw a B16 ECU and get a Zdyne B16 "one-wire" conversion. They chip the Si ECU to run a B16 and you just have to run one additional wire. Internally the engine's a B16, parts for a del Sol VTEC or '99-'00 Si are readily available at your friendly neighborhood Honda dealer. Or check www.hondaautomotiveparts.com, they got the whole damn dealer catalog online with good prices. Here's a basic swap shopping list (disregard the need for wiring harnesses and such if you run the Zdyne conversion): http://www.hasport.com/M88_B16_partslist.htm

Thing costs $300!!!!

I got my PR3 for $125, and will be getting it re-chipped to the exact x-over, redline, and even removing extra sensors for $150 .......

$320.

On the order form for the conversion you get to specify hot & cold rev limits, rev limit x-over temp, and vtec x-over. The only sensor I can think of that you'd want to remove is the knock sensor and the Si ECU don't have that anyway. I guess if you think of it as having the cost of a conversion harness included it ain't so bad.

True .....

But most people buy the swap with a PR3 or PWO ....... I am one of the rare that bought the ECU before hand, and plan on getting it chipped.

I'll be getting rid of the knock sensor, and second O2 sensor with my chipping ....

Niether is the better deal. Man this Ken guy will make a lot of money off of you.

Swap = 1500 MAX
HCP mount kit with shift linkage = 410 shipped
Misc hoses/fluids/belts/water pump/etc = 250
wiring = 75
labor = 500

Those are the MAX you should have to pay for it. I can do the wiring and sell you the HCP kit if you need it.

Just get the HASport mounts. they are great. Super stiff too.... if you don't mind the vibration. They drop in like a dream, as well as the shift linkage. Haven't had a prob installing or running hard on em yet...
