anyone have a used motor by any chance?
Yes...I have one. It's pulled out of my project S2K which is getting a Ford V8 (5.0).
The motor happens to be a "ringer", the car it came from was dyno'd with 212 to the wheels. The motor has 16,000 miles, comes from a MY 2000 car.
I'm in Chicago-area, and motor is ready for freight.
IM'ing you right now.

I hate to impose on this thread but,
Let me get this right. You want to replace a beautifully engineered motor for an everyday FORD 5.0L?!?!?
This is just my opinion but for the price of this conversion you could have a sweet *** FI set-up still have the RPM of the S2K.
Why hack one of the best things honda has ever produced???
Why not hack a Miata or a RX-7 I know guys who have done both successfully with the 5.0L!!
Such a waste of such a beautiful car!!!!
Sorry for the jack, but I couldn't help it. Just my opinion.

I've also owned the current "everyday" S2K for close to 6 years now....and the S2000, which at one point was a "bow down to it" type of car for me, now just isn't.
There's many other cars out there worth owning now than back in '99 when people started putting money down to wait in line to look at the car.
Hot-rodding an S2K with a domestic power-plant just hasn't been done and would be an interesting feat on so many levels.
Boosting the F20c is less than admirable. Firstly, it's been done. Secondly, against your own opinion about hacking a "beautiful" car, why would you re-engineer suck a "beautiful" motor. 120hp/L NA is a wonderful feat....why change it?
In anycase, this is a cheaper project than some of the other stuff I had on the table...I decided to do this one with the wife's blessing whereas trying to financially get into a 360 Modena was given a less than enthusiastic "do what you want" from her.

Unfortunately, the "do what you want" wasn't really a blessing or approval. It was more of a "I dare to do what you want". She's planning on us having kids soon, so that high end of a car this soon in our lives is a big no-no...especially with a mortgage looming over our heads.
She (and I somewhat agree) thinks that it doesn't make sense to own a car that is worth over 1/3 the cost of our house. It'd be more prudent to move into a nicer, larger house and have a more "manageable" toy.
....so V8 S2000 was the route to go.

Hehehehe....once it's done, it'll be so geigh that when my V8 launches on your I4, all you'll be seeing is my backside at the finish line yelling [voice=femine gay][wrist=cocked and flacid]woo-woo-woo, Honey, now pull your pants up before someone else gives you a push
[/voice][/wrist]
Actually, you give me an idea. I may have the car painted pink just to taunt those that think this is a bad project and would be willing to line up against it. NOt only would you get beat by American POS, but you'd get beat by an American POS powered Honda painted pink with F&F graphics all over it.

Ha...I thought this post would be from you miller!
In case you didn't know this is Levi with the white hatch that beat you.
Did you ever look into the spark plug recall that some s2000s had? I'm not sure of the specifics, but I believe it had something to do with the sparkplugs could break off and then causing internal engine damage.

Oh....you must have been in Toronto. Indians that settled anywhere outside of T.O. are afflicted with mullet-mania...like I said, I'd fit right in...now I just need to find a checkered flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off.
I think its great idea. The S engine is great, loads of fun and all, but if I somehow blew it, and was lookin to tinker I might try the same thing. You can get a stock 302 crate engine with 380hp or get a 347 Z head with 450 hp. Thats what I feel the S 2000 needs.
