Default D15b swap write up

Well, since theres literally no info on the web about jdm d15b swaps into 96+ civic i thought give a little write up of my experiences with this swap. This is my first swap, im only 16 and did it all by myself and acully got the thing running decent now.

Alright this swap was a pain in the ***!!!! First off i wired my y8 harness up for this engine (this was the hard part off the swap)

What has to be done for this swap to work:

1. Drop engine in
2. All y8 axles and shift linkage work for this swap
3. Plug up y8 harness to the new engine
4. Wire z6/d15b dizzy plug to y8 harness
5. Wire z6/d15b alternator plug to y8 harness
6. Wire o2 sensor plug
7. YOU CAN USE YOUR P2P ECU (I bought a skunk 2 p28 and conversion harness and i notice no differnce between the ecu's, I thought the d15b would even run with that ecu but i plugged it up and it runs better with it)
8. Swap d15 ps pump with a y8 one and change the brackets (the y8 ps hose doesnt fit up to the d15 pump)

*NOTE DONT RUN YOUR CAR WITHOUT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKIT IT WILL LEAK COOLENT INTO THE ENGINE AND SMOKE A CRAP LOAD

I'll have pictures up soon!

LOL here is something better...

Use a obd1 engine harness, and just convert the ecu plugs to obd1... so much better =P

wow you must know something to be able to do a first time swap by yourself. i'll give to you. i just swaped a engine myself(first time) with the help of my bro. it was a bitch. and now it's running funny so the car's in the shop.

personally, i would not put an obd1 engine in an obd2 car, but nice job on doing the whole swap yourself, i am the same way, did my first swap myself when i was 17

i'm glad your install went well , or at least well enough that the car runs. i'm looking to put a d15b in my 96 civic as well, (auto to manual swap) and am glad to have found this thread! i know who to talk to about my install now. yes i'm posting a bit late. so what? again, congrats.
