Default Which head is better and why?

I'd like to know what head is better overall becuase I will be doing a mild port and polish to whatever I get, a GSR head or a B16 head (sirII).

Supposively b16 head flows better than a p72 gsr head...Obviously you can make a gsr head flow better than a b16 with porting and such. Yet the debate will rant and rave on forever. Do some searching and compare the two.

gsr head has higher compression than the b16 head

Just to clear it up. The GSR Head will yield higher compression. It does'nt have higher compression..

I've ported both. For big motors I would do B16.

In unported form P72 is almost always better than PR3. The valve seats on the P72 are much better aligned in the ports.

From what I've always heard, the GSR head is the better head as far as flow. BUT, the difference is like 3cfm at over 7k rpm's or some ****, basically, not anything noticeable.

How about H22? I heard they are very good flow even from factory.

But as good as they are, what purpose would getting an H22 head serve when we're dealing with a B series setup?

ITR head is still the best factory head I'd say.

all in all, it doesnt matter which head is better or not, its all on who actually ports it,thats where the difference will be

In an allmotor application, we've been taught over and over that compression is king, yada yada yada, and this is true to an extent. But all the compression in the world doesnt matter if you dont get a good burn out of the mix.

In an unported, under 9krpm, street driven application, i think 10 out of 10 times you go with the GSR head if you can.

Just my .02, disagree if you will, but those who heed sound advice are often faster on raceday.

There are far fewer casting imperfections on the GSR heads than there are on most of the B16 heads as well.

If you have cams with good duration above 0.450 lift then B16 will perf. better.

Isn't the integra type-r head a mild port and polished b16 head?
