Default 96 civic, ignition and steering column problems

my car was broken into a while ago and the steering column was stolen along with the stereo and the shift ****. I just got a steering column out of a 94 dx yesterday and when i tried to install it today, i couldn't start the car. I put the key in the ignition and it beeps, but nothing happens when I try to start it. Any ideas as to what is causing this problem? also, the headlights willl turn on.

Thanks

not cool. Is the steering column from the 94 dx gonna work with my 96 ex or is there no chance, and i have just been wasting my time?

thanks

since it's from a different year, body and interior style I'm going to guess that it won't work

Do you have anaftermarket alarm system? Maybe it's sounding the horn and flashing the lights?

made some new advances. I was able to reconnect some severed wire on the ignition wiring. The starter will crank, but the car won;t start. I used another ignition i had lying around and it worked, but I have no idea how to connect it to the steering column, or remove the old one. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
