Default Time For New Oil Rings. Jdm Pistons at the same time?

My 2000 has 74,000 miles now and the oil rings have just taken a dump, I have the motor out and I'm going to Aj this Saturday to pick up some toys, final drive etc... I was thinking about throwing in some jdm pistons while I've got it apart. What are your opinions on this and what kind of gains should I expect from pistons and a spoon head gasket? Current mods are an AEM, Comptech Race header, Spoon Exhaust. Thanks for your help.

do you have plans and money to use a engine management system?

It would not be such a bad idea. remember your changing the way the motor works and what the stock ECU was designed for.

Yeah I have a safc currently sitting in my garage never used, I was thinking that I can use that for now and possibly hondata down the road.

I would get the hondata if this is what your looking at doing. Might as well do it right.

whats the difference between USDM and JDM ITR pistons? I cant see it being that much but Im not sure. Also, if you want to use a thinner head gasket, just use an OEM gasket and remove the middle layer and save a few bucks. In any case Im assuming that you will bump your compression only slightly and shouldnt need any major EMS to tune with. I dont know the limitations of the safc but if it allows you to tune fuel I think you will be fine with the stock ECU. Obviously you will get best results with a full stand alone EMS but I doubt its a necessity at this point. I have a thin head gasket with some slight headwork with stock ECU and it runs great with NO tuning device.

Run some CP's instead with your choice of compression

I want to use oem parts as my goal isn't an all motor monster. Inline four said that between the pistons and spoon head gasket I should notice roughly 10-15 to the wheels once it's tuned. I guess I can see it as a possibility since I would be going from 10:6 to roughly 11:3 compression ratio.
