its the mechanism that when u push the breaks it allows you to shift out of park...its out of sync or broken or something is amiss...sorry dont know what that **** is called...does it make a "click" sound when in park and u hit the break?...and when u release the break too?

It might be the brake sensor. It sits on top of the brake pedal assembly thing. Honestly, it could be a lot of things. ******* automatics, I have one and can't stand it.

shifter interlock I think its called...?
It may just need adjusted.

I seriously doubt if it is a mechanical problem with the tranny.
