i have a 97 hatch with a ls swap and have had the check engine light on for awhile now. been getting bad milage, around 170ish a tank. took it to autozone a few times, people didnt help much, friend says might of been the 02 sensors, we changed 1 of them but still having problems, any ideas or suggestions would be gravy.

 

**** autozone... just check the code yourself... its very easy... just jump the connector under the passenger side of the dash with the key on and count the flashes... helms is your friend

 

my bro & i share drive a JDM eg9. we're in malaysia. been having the same problem as eggk. where can i get the reference on the code & how do i locate the connector to jump? this is our first honda so we're still rookies if you could post a diagram, it would really help neutron91.

 

You know those books at autozone that say engine repair manual and then say the make/model/year? You might want to try that. Wait, I mean, you own a Honda and you don't have the repair manual? <just being a smartass>

 

Hi well Since your car is a 97.. most likely its OBD2 ... so the only way to check your codes would be with a Scanner, cant jump it ... Doubt you have one .. so you might be better off taking it to a shop or buddy who has a scanner and check the code.. then work from there

 

Then again im an idiot.. i forgot you said LS motor... yeah you can jump it if your OBD1 my bad.. i should first ask if your OBD2 or obd 1? If 1 .. jump it by placing a paper clip in the connector. then turn key on and check flashes.. slow flash = 10 fast flash = 1. But if OBD2 must use scanner

 

try changing your catalytic converter. if your'e obd2 your jumper cable to check your code is underneath your dash by your passangers side feet. Its as little blue plug that has a green cap on it. Just jump it with a paper clip and read the code. Long flashers are 10 and fast flashes are 1. Just add them up and then check the code, there here on the board somewhere. Peace.

you can jumper wire an obd2 honda... you dont need a scanner

Yeah - so don't spread mis-information like this.

You can of course check OBD2 trouble codes with a paperclip. You won't get the "P" codes that a scanner gives you, but you will get the blink codes.
