How to lower a CRV?
ok so i work at honda at we got a crv in the back lot thats goin to auction that i can get really really cheap and im selling my car right now, and im looking to pick up somthing really cheap to drive till i figure out what i want next and then use the cheap car as a daily driver so im gonna buy this crv
now my question is how do you lower crv's, never looked at one underneath, dont know how its setup
im figuring its like a integra or civic, with just regular shocks and springs in one piece
can i just buy some alright shocks and like some coilover sleaves?
i ask cuz crv's lookin pretty hard slammed, i figure id slam it and put some jdm itr wheels on it and drive the snot out of it

if you want to "drive the snot" out of a car, get a different one. the CRV is NOT the right one.
and if you work at honda, shouldnt you be smart enough to know how to lower a car?
I think car people are getting dumber by the day. especially honda owners.
anyway, crv is 4 wheel independent suspension, coilovers in front and back.
im sure someone makes aftermarket coilovers (instead of buying shocks/springs separate.
but again, why would you want to do something like this to a crappy crv? buy an old TL or something.

hope the mechanics at the acura dealer where i bring both honda's never become like this kid. there service is great and they are willing to work on a civic as well...the large honda dealer is full of ******.
anyway, the CRV is not meant to be lowered, it's not a sedan. it's a small SUV. if anything, i'd want to lift one a little bit so i don't scrape the underside when i go camping. otherwise, i'd stick with a accord or TL.

it's an suv...not a car. it wasn't built for that reason. and even if you do lower it, it will not be a better handling vehicle, it is still top heavy. and i honestly don't think it will look that great...like a tall-roof station wagon. i think the mugen CRV looks like crap. but, it is his vehicle...he can do whatever he wants. he asked our opinion and we tell him.
like you said he asked for an opinion and you gave your opinion that they are not meant to be lowered but yet many companies such as mugen, tein, eibach and others make lowering kits for them. so basicly your saying escalades, expeditions and such shouldnt be lowered because they are suvs
that's exactly what i'm saying. people take appearance over function, safety and reliability...it's ridiculous. same with pickup trucks, they were meant to haul some people while hauling a load around...not to be blinged out.
with that said, i'm done and not going to start an arguement.

ok first when i say drive the snot out of it i dont mean race it, i mean drive it everyday all day long to and from work and not take care of it
adn i do work at honda, but i only clean cars part time while im in school, and dont take that as i dont know what im talking about, iv forgotten more about hondas then youl ever know, iv just never worked on a crv, i dont know anything about them so i asked a question but you had to go and be a ********** and give some smart *** answer instead of something prodictive
and if you whould have read the post im not paying much at all for the car and so im not going to spend a grand on some coilovers, im looking for a cheap way to lower it, i dont want better handling, i dont care how it rides(no im not cutting the springs)
i just like the way they look lowered

working for honda does not make you intelligent, ****, look at half the people that sell cars for honda. complete MORONS whe it comes to automobiles. and, if you were around this forum at all, you would know that i hate crvs. i think they are pieces of ****, about on par with a geo tracker. and what does "ive forgotten more about honda than you'll ever know" so you used to know a whole lot about hondas, and ill never know that much, or ill never know how much you used to know. I dont get it.

there are plenty of other cars out there that would be a lot nicer, and a lot less shitty. how much are you paying for the car? how much do you plan on paying to have it modified? and how much do you plan on spending on the tires when you eat them up due to bad camber (you arent smart enough to buy camber plates) do it right the first time, and buy a better car, instead of spending less on a shitty car, then spending more money to make it less shitty.

well in that case, I have every bit of information any human has ever know in the entirety of history. plus, i have eleventy billion dollars sitting on my desk. claiming you know everything or more about everything than i do, is kind of a bold statement. especially since you do not back it up whatsoever.

Good luck getting coilovers for 100 bucks. anyway, "not paying much for a car" that is obviously worth a couple thousand dollars, does not imply you are paying 200 dollars for it, it implies you are paying 1500 dollars for it. (or something like that.) so why didnt you say in the first place, "im paying $200 for a crv, and want to lower it for as little amount of money as possible"
actually, why not make a new thread like that, you would get much better responses.

Once again, you need to specify your intentions if you are asking questions on the subject. For all we know, you just dont have a lot of money to spend on it in general, so you want to get something decent, but something that wont just break. How else would we know, unless you told us in the first place?

I'm not trying to defend the kid here but...
1. It's not like the CRV is a REAL SUV. It's essentially a Civic and 99.9% of people are never going to take them off road. If I had a CRV I'd probably look into making the handling a little more car like as well. This guy wants to do it the cheap way which I don't really care for, but I see nothing wrong with somebody throwing on a nice set of shocks and lowering springs. Lowering the center of gravity on a taller vehicle that will NEVER do any real offroading isn't stupid in my book. In fact I would personally prefer it.
2. There is nothing shitty about a CRV. In fact I hear nothing but good reviews on them. I would be a lot more worried buying a TL for the same price you can get a CRV for considering they were much more expensive new. If a TL goes for the same price as an equal mileage CRV then either you are extremely lucky or there is something very very wrong with the TL.
If I ever get a CRV the first thing that is going on is a set of Koni Yellows with some beefier springs.

im looking to keep my total investment in this car under 500 bucks including the price of the car
and my now daily driver(whould be my weekend but im selling it) is a 2001 integra type r, my next weekend car is probly goin to be a s2000 or a g35 or a 350z i havent decided yet
so i have money and im not cheap i just dont want to sink to much money in somthing i probaly wont be able to get back so im tryin to do this for as little money as possible
but i dont know the crv at my work is in pretty nice shape, they just didnt give the guy **** on a trade in, i guess he didnt want it anymore
