Default Went to get tranny drain/fill

The shop used Valvoline Maxlife instead of Honda ATF... Is this ok? He assured me its perfectly fine since Maxlife says on the bottle "honda atf z1 compatible"

Also is there any reason why I smelt a burnt smell when I got home from the shop?

As far as I know you're only supposed to use Honda ATF. It will probably be fine though. As for the burning smell they probably spilled some fluid and it may have gone onto your exhaust hence the burning smell. If you keep getting it though, take it back.

I don't know if it will do any damage to the car but if it would have been me i would have DEMANDED that they order up some of the Honda ATF. I know the shop i work in has a few bottles of that stuff just in case.... the burning is probably just some spill on exhaust like sj said.

i also have a tranny cooler installed, i dunno if that makes a difference. I don't know if I should just forget it, or re drain/fill 3 times this weekend with honda atf

If you're that worried about it just do a tranny flush with honda atf. But seriously, it will be just fine.
