About to buy Koni Yellows, but first what is Perches? what does it do?
I have no idea what perches are. I've used other struts that dont have it. I want to know what this is before i buy these struts. Pictures would help. I've searched, but the stuff i read up wasnt really detailed. People already knew what perches were, so when i read it i still did not understand what it does. I don't know if it matters, but these struts are going to be paired up with Neuspeed Race Springs for a 92 prelude.

First of you have Shocks... but thats another show..
Perches are what the springs sit out, on a koni yellow you can set the perches in three different spots, making them adjustable perches, all shocks have perches, but all are not adjustable.

oh i see. When you buy the yellows do they come with the adjustable perches? So even with springs i can lower my car to my own specs with these perches? Can i adjust it anytime like coilovers or do i have to take apart the whole strut assembly to adjust it? Thank you very much for your answers.

Yes you can lower or raise your car by setting the perch to one of the 3 spots at the bottom of the shock. I don't have any experience with koni yellows, but most likely you will have to remove the strut assembly and take it apart before changing the perch.

On konis the perch sits on a snap ring you can raise or lower to a couple of different slots. If you've seen pictures of koni yellows the shock is normally yellow and the perch is silver.

Think of the perch as the "seat" for the spring. I comes with the Koni shocks.
On the normal "yellow" koni's there are three grooves within the body that are used to set the height of the perch, and as a result the height of the car. The Neuspeed koni's (also painted yellow) have 5 grooves.
You have to take the struts out and remove the spring in order to move the perch from one location to another.
Normally, the center groove is for a stock height, when using stock springs. As a result, if you are like me you can use the setting to set the height higher if the springs you are going to use would normally lower the car more than you want. (I wanted a fairly stock looking car)

So when i install these with the neuspeed race springs the "stock setting" for 2.25F and 2R is the middle perch for the front and back perch right? Thank you so much guys.
About how much higher will the car be with the perch on the top slot as opposed to the middle? I have these koni yellows here and H&R sport springs which are 1.8/1.6 drop...what will the drop be if I put them both on the highest perch?
It all depends on where the shocks attach to the lower control arm.
Moving the seat (perch) up 1/2" will increase the height some factor MORE.
That factor is computed by taking two measurements off of the lower control arm.
Call measurement "A" the length from the centerline of the bushing where the arm bolts to the cross-member to the centerline of the steering knuckle ball joint.
Measurement "B" would be from that bushing (at the crossmember) to the attachment point of the shock assembly (to the lower control arm).
The factor is "A" divided by "B".
So, figure out how much you are going to move up the perch, multiply it by "A", and then divide that by "B".
Dang, I hope that helps.
